Kate Poole is the founder of Essential Apothecary Alchemist, a bestselling farm-to-bottle skincare brand, as well as HunterMoon Homestead, the 1902 farm that she is restoring and growing organic botanicals for Essential Apothecary Alchemist, and hosting self-discovery art and personal growth retreats. She has a background in plant studies, nutritional counseling, and wellness assessment that bring a unique vision to her alchemical process.

“The focus of my products is essential oils that have an affinity for the skin and make tiny molecular changes that are powerful over time,” says Poole, whose passion for plants dates back to childhood. “They smell incredible, so you are treating your skin at the same time as you are treating your mind and spirit because they affect the brain through the limbic system.”

Inspired by the transformative powers of plant medicines, and the ability of natural materials to assist the body’s innate intelligence to find balance and wholeness. Through her EAA products, Kate sought to bring the same level of nutrition and focus on organic ingredients in her diet, into her skincare routine. When she couldn’t find anything in the market, she decided to make it for herself.

“I have been an herbalist literally all my life. I was picking fresh herbs when I was just a child and somehow I knew how to use them. By the time I was in high school, I was studying in earnest. I raised my family on herbal medicines and avoided the whole western medicine model. I learned how to garden from a great aunt, who used organic farming methods: using a broad fork, composting, crop rotations, plant companion planting, moon calendar… Growing, harvesting, drying, or tincturing fresh herbs, for their medicinal uses has been a lifelong occupation.” Kate’s current passion is distilling plant materials to utilize both the water and essential oil products of plants.

1 TBS Amla powder (Indian Gooseberry)
2 TBS Rosehip powder
1 TBS Orange peel powder
2 TBS Acerola powder
2 TSP Hawthorn berry powder
5 TBS local organic honey

Mix the powders in warm honey
Roll into little balls or take in a teaspoon
Take 1 to 2 TBS, 2 to 3 times a day

Danielle is a Registered Herbalist (RH) of the American Herbalists Guild (AHG), Certified Holistic Nutritionist and National Educator at Four Sigmatic. Prior to joining forces with Four Sigmatic, she received her BA in Environmental Studies and Philosophy from Whitman College.

She studied Ayurveda in India and became a Certified Yoga Instructor on the banks of the Ganges River. She then worked with a Naturopathic Doctor in Indonesia where she became a Certified Raw Chef and Detox Coach. But it was leading trekking adventures into the backcountry of Thailand where she became particularly fascinated by herbal medicine.

After several years in Asia, she landed in Boulder, Colorado to formalize her education in holistic medicine. Upon completing her graduate studies at the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism (CSCH), she opened a private practice, Danielle Ryan Wellness, where she worked with hundreds of clients across the US, specializing in treatment for individuals with autoimmune conditions and chronic illness. She was invited to become the Instructor of Mycology at CSCH, where she still teaches.

Danielle brings her passion and expertise in herbal medicine, clinical practice, teaching, formulation, and her deep love for fungi, to the Everyday Magic™ of Four Sigmatic as their National Educator.
